The logbook
Standing in a hallway with hardware in hand can feel overwhelming. Childproofing works best as a systematic pass through the house rather than an unorganized scramble. We design these tools to slow curious hands down and give adults time to react. Starting where the hazards are dense and moving outward keeps the job manageable, practical, and thorough.
Drop to your hands and knees before peeling any tape. Crawling a room shows you low handles, dangling cords, and sharp edges that disappear from adult eye level. What looks like clear floor space from above turns out to be a direct route to a low cupboard.
Every adhesive latch requires a clean, grease-free surface and uninterrupted cure time before the first test pull. Tape needs time to bond with the finish. Plan your work so you can install the hardware and leave it untouched for 24 hours, or up to 72 hours on heat-resistant oven mounts, before putting tension on the latch.
Kitchens hold the highest concentration of daily hazards, from heat to cleaning chemicals. Our Heart of Tafiti Oven Lock mounts directly with heat-resistant adhesive, using double buttons that rotate 180 degrees so adults can open the door while keeping little hands out. Remember that latching an oven door deters opening, but adult supervision remains essential whenever cooking.
Refrigerators and low cabinets come next. For single-door fridges with flat or recessed handles up to 0.35 inches (9 mm), our Fridge Lock uses an adjustable head that turns 120 degrees to fit beveled surfaces, operating via two buttons spaced 1.57 inches apart. Low cupboards holding soaps or tools can be secured using our strap-style Child Safety Cabinet Locks, which adjust from 3 inches to 7 inches, or our invisible internal cabinet latches that keep catches hidden inside.
Bathrooms require fast, reliable barriers because water and stored toiletries present immediate risks. Our multi-purpose strap locks fit across toilet lids as easily as under-sink vanities. The ABS straps hold firm against pulling, requiring an adult to slide the cover and press the circular platform to secure it.
Closing off the bathroom entirely is often the simplest step. If your interior door has a standard round knob measuring between 1.4 inches and 2 inches in diameter, our snap-in Door Knob Covers spin freely in tiny grips while allowing adults to grasp the knob through side buttons. They are made of BPA-free PP and TPR tested to EN71 standards, built strictly for interior doors.
Living rooms bring hard furniture edges and media storage into daily traffic paths. Our clear Corner Protectors, available in L-shape and round styles, use pre-taped Nano Tape to cushion corners on wood, glass, metal, marble, and plastic. The TPR material is BPA-free and certified to CPSIA and EN71 standards, softening sharp points without masking your furniture finish.
Passage doors throughout living areas frequently feature lever handles. Our Childproof Door Lever Lock adheres directly to the door panel without screws. For standard handles that pull down, a single lock stops the lever; for doors that open upward, installing one lock above and one below prevents the handle from turning. Like all our adhesive hardware, you can remove it later using a hairdryer to soften the tape without residue.
Nurseries are usually the safest room in the home because they are arranged around a child from the start. Leave this room for the end of your installation pass. Check that the room entry door has proper handle covers so an early riser cannot wander unsupervised into the rest of the house before you wake.
Hardware serves as a helpful deterrent, but no latch replaces direct supervision. Once your child figures out how a specific mechanism operates, retire the lock and adjust your safety plan.
